Student Council

Shearer’s Student Council is an opportunity for fifth grade students to develop and practice leadership skills as they explore their role in three different communities: their school, their local community and the world.    The student council meets to discuss issues of importance and plan events that  benefit their school culture as well as local and world wide charitable causes.  Several times a year the students organize school spirit days and annual events include the Harvest Festival, a canned food drive, the Read-a-thon and the Talent Show. In the past, student council has raised money for Napa Food Bank, Red Cross disaster relief, local families facing medical crisis, Heifer International, COPE, the  school garden and school technology needs. Shearer Student Council and its representatives exemplify NVUSD's BEST practices, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe as they lead and support their school.
